Times Select

I use to read some of The New York Times columnists, but reading Dowd, Rich and Krugman is like listening to the same song over and over again, at various rates of speed and levels of volume. Now the Times is charging for the great opportunity to read these columnists through a program called Times Select. What is interesting is that the names of these columnists are showing up daily as the top searches on Technorati and often you can find a blog where someone has posted the full text of the column. I have not done any research to determine in the NYT is taking legal action.

I do miss reading David Brooks, my favorite columnist, but I'm not about to pay the Times Select fee to read the others.

On a slightly different subject, could editorial pages of newspapers fade away anyway with the emergence of blogs and their ability to desiminate the opinions of people much more relevant and informed than the NY Times editorial board? Let's hope so.
